FINDING A VOICE... INTRODUCE YOURSELF (PRÁCTICA 1)

Hello, I am Javi and I'm 18. I am now living in Murcia but I came from San Pedro del Pinatar, a village really near the sea "Mar Menor". I have always wanted to study English, all of it. So here I am about to start  my first year of university. I have always focused on learning the language, even on my own. I left my hometown only a few days ago and I already miss everything very much. I really think that learning English will be worth it. I don't expect anything of this subject. I am finally about to study what I have always wanted and I really desire to find a job related to it when I finish in the future. I don't have any idea of what I want to work in when I am older but what I am really sure about is that I want to move to the United States and work there so I can learn its culture.

BLA BLA CAR

Going by bus is boring, that’s a fact. And one of the problems of coming from a village out of Murcia City is that I need to take a lot of them. Every week, I have to go to university by bus. However, I have lately discovered an app for my mobile phone that helps me do these trips a bit funnier.  Bla Bla Car is an app that allows people to get in touch with people going to the same places then allows them to meet and to save money when travelling.

First of all, people going to the same places need to post their trip on the app. When posting a trip, they must include their name and surnames, e-mail address, phone number, car model, destiny and the price. This part includes a lot of information from both sides: the driver and the customers. When the communication has started, the driver has to answer the customers’ questions. Customers are going to contact with the driver to meet at a specific place. When the meeting it is usual to introduce yourself to the other person. It’s a good way of breaking the ice.

People meet a one place to go them all together in the same car to their destiny. The app has some kind of items, which basically consist on telling your driver or your customers whether you are a talkative person; you allow them to bring their pets, you allow them to smoke on your car or if you like playing music. There are so many options to choose. Once you have taken your seat, all you need to do is to relax, to listen to music and to enjoy your trip.

Travelling by Bla Bla Car is a fantastic idea to save money. I go in Bla Bla Car to Murcia as often as I can. Using this app allows me to save money every week since it is a bit cheaper than going by train or by bus. I prefer this method of getting to Murcia because I can get to know people that study different degrees and that really often give me advises to pass my first year at University. Besides this, going by car it’s actually more comfortable than going by bus, and quite faster.

Overall, people may prefer going by bus or by train because they don’t need to establish communication with strangers. For me, it is much more comfortable going by car. There are a lot of advantages out of this new app. At least, you should give it a try before you do your judgement.

DRIVING LICENSE

As everyone knows, being able to drive gives you an important feeling of independence in your lifetime. I have always wanted to drive although when the time came, I could not spend my time studying for it because I had to prepare for the entrance examinations for University. As soon as I finished with these exams, I started to prepare myself for the driving license. However, the driving license is sort of a business and it is also such a hard thing to pass the written test and the driving lessons.

On the one hand, driving is mostly a thing that everyone will do and we will all end up driving but, it is very expensive. This is because you have to pay a lot of money for the enrolment, then for the theory classes and for the driving lessons. It is true that it’s quite much money, but I see it as an investment since you spend this money once in a lifetime. Driving lessons are very expensive; for instance, I had to pay 30€ per lesson. And it took me a lot of lessons to learn to drive.

The written test is, normally, easy to pass. Nevertheless, people get really nervous when going on the exam and sometimes fail it. We need to learn all related to driving since there lies the key for the efficient driving. Above this, I have to say that once you have passed the exam you may forget almost everything you learnt. In the daily life, you just focus on observing the traffic rules. But it is a very important part of your driving license to properly learn everything related to the motor-world.

On the other hand, despite it is such an expensive investment, driving lessons are, as I see it, the most important part of your driving license. I lived in a village called San Pedro del Pinatar and we had to go to Cartagena on our driving lessons because we were going to have our exam there. I mentioned that it is the most important part because you can know the theory but you need to take it to the practice. Only when you drive you are conscious about the irresponsibility people often commit. When driving, you need to stay focused and use your five senses in order to avoid accidents and crushes. My experience in Cartagena showed me that I had to learn a map of it for the exam and also showed me the nervous I could get when development of the exam.

Overall, driving is an important part of everyone’s lives and it can get you high to a state of independence that it is incomparable. Besides this, you always need to now its danger since you are very fragile when a crush; driving license it’s just another stage of life.
